Two Nautical Tales merged for the Price of One
A Seafaring Lad By E. A. Grouseman
The Ballad of Dopey Mick by Merman Helville
Oy winked and wumbled where beacons burn
all through the long lee dale
and once I sailed through seven seas
for a sight of a mighty whale
And naught as huge as he I found
in any sea that I was bound
Old Dopey Mick whom I met by chance
the bane of my nautical life
Whom I chased across the salty seas
and who led me a merry old dance
Who never gave me a moments rest
and who put me to the test
How I survived I just don’t know
this I solemnly dee clare
So think ye kindly on me I ask
when thee are at the fair
Where the merry-go-round
big dippers ride and coconuts are shy
And ice cream vans and tents and stalls
all vie to take the eye
Where dodgems are a bumper ride
and the big wheel spins so haughtily
beneath a sunny sky
Think upon me kindly and say
Oh rather you than I
