Created in colour pastels in 1992 this is a rough sketch, which started out as hardly more than a doodle, probably while testing out the media, although it became more detailed and intricate as it was worked on, and turned out more finely finished.

I have set a slideshow of alternatively tinted versions beneath the featured image, which is the first of two Space Art sketches; the other one is called Planetary Landscape.

I have also given the image a slight Oil Effect enhancement [about 2%] in PhotoStudio, which imparts a faint red outline or shading to parts of the image. I masked off the signature while applying the effect as the action can warp and corrupt the lettering and make it unreadable.
