Coca Cola Greets The Twilight Hour

This is an imaginary advert in landscape form that I created in 1983: a panoramic view painted in acrylic water colours – and among the various projects I’ve tackled commission-wise, this is another one that I set myself as an exercise in visualizing new ideas in advertising.

I don’t know how I came to visualize the concept and can only surmise that a glimpse of the distinctive Coca Cola Logo on the cap of a soft drinks bottle, the side of a coke can, the page of a magazine or a street billboard, must have acted as the spur.

It’s certainly the sort of symbolic subject that would appeal to me enough that I would be motivated to portray. And it’s just two steps away from inventing a tree-lined landscape in sunset with the Coca Cola logo rising like a huge moon hovering just behind the treetops – and then naming the subject Cola Rise.

I have installed a slideshow with varying views of the featured illustration. They are listed as follows:

Left Handed Segment
