Acrylic Watercolour 1989

I painted this by hand while I was at CREATE as an exercise between various art commissions and design and desktop publishing studies on the Applemacs of the day.

The illustration was taken from a magazine advert for Dulux.

We were left pretty much alone to make our own decisions as to how we filled our time between assignments, although I decided to keep whatever I produced in line with the topical thematics of the study curriculum, so I pored through the commercial magazines available, looking for something I fancied doing and could relax with, and found the image featured here.

It has several elements of pictorial storytelling: portraiture, still-life, setting, subject and protagonist.
